Rachel Banks, Ph.D.

Rachel Banks, Ph.D.

Scientist

Rachel works on smart and computational microscopy techniques to do in-vivo imaging of tissues for long periods of time at high spatiotemporal resolution. She is also developing methods to alter organ architecture using photonic and optogenetic tools. (Joint member of Computational Microscopy group)

Akila Balasubramanian, Ph.D.

Akila Balasubramanian, Ph.D.

Scientist

Akila is an expert in cell and molecular techniques in zebrafish. She is studying the unique regenerative capabilities of these organisms and uncovering the underlying mechanisms that drive tissue repair and regeneration.

Tiger Lao

Tiger Lao

Research Associate

Besides being our aquaculture specialist, Tiger works on generating transgenic zebrafish lines with fluorescent tags of relevant signaling proteins.

Aslihan Terzi, Ph.D.

Aslihan Terzi, Ph.D.

Scientist

Aslihan is a molecular biologist and a zebrafish enthusiast. She is trying to dissect the role of cellular signaling in the formation of hair cells and neuromast of zebrafish to better understand how cells communicate with each other to form complex organs. She is also developing tools for establishing zebrafish transgenic lines.
